THE PROMISS PLAYBOOK · PRACTICAL GUIDE

Lips, lashes & little details

You do not need a dramatic transformation. Sometimes a comfortable lip colour and a tiny lash detail make an outfit feel finished.

SHORT ON TIME? START HERE
  1. For an easy everyday lip, try a sheer shade near your natural lip colour. Check the shade on your lips rather than only your hand.
  2. Curl lashes gently before mascara. Never pull or tug, and do not share eye makeup.
  3. False lashes are optional. Choose a light, short style, follow adhesive instructions, and remove gently. Stop using a product if it irritates.
  4. Let one detail lead: a brighter lip, a subtle lash, or a small accessory.

Let one detail lead

Try a brighter lip with simple eyes, or a little mascara with a sheer lip. This is an editing trick, not a rule. Check the result with your actual work shirt rather than only under bathroom lighting.

Lashes without pressure

Bare lashes are a complete option. If using a curler, follow its instructions and use gentle pressure on clean lashes before mascara. False lashes add adhesive, positioning and removal; practise on a free day before relying on them for a busy morning.

Plan for the middle of the day

Eat, drink and talk during a practice wear. If a lip product needs constant checking, save it for occasions when you enjoy the maintenance. One touch-up product and a mirror may be enough; you do not need to carry a duplicate of your whole kit.

A real-life moment

Coffee after work? Blot and refresh your familiar lip colour, tidy a smudge and keep the rest. You do not need a second full makeup look to join a casual conversation.

Easy mistakes—and a better starting point

  • Adding water or saliva to drying mascara.
  • Applying eye makeup in a moving vehicle.
  • Assuming false lashes are required for a polished look.

One small thing to try

Wear a lip product through a normal meal at home. Notice comfort and maintenance before choosing it for an interview.

The questions you might be quietly asking

How much lipstick is appropriate for my first job?

There is no universal colour rule. A sheer or softly blotted shade is an easy starting point; adjust to your workplace, preferences and comfort.

Do I need false eyelashes for work?

No. Bare lashes or a light coat of mascara are completely valid. False lashes add application and removal steps and may feel less comfortable for a beginner.

How do I avoid clumpy mascara?

Wipe excess from the wand, apply a thin coat and separate gently before it sets. Never add water or saliva to thin mascara.

Can I use lash glue every day?

Follow the product directions and avoid adhesives that irritate you. Stop if irritation occurs; persistent symptoms need professional advice. False lashes are optional.

How do I stop lipstick getting on my teeth?

Use a thin layer and check your teeth in a mirror before leaving. A quick blot can remove excess; recheck after eating.

Should every makeup detail match exactly?

No. Aim for colours that feel comfortable together. If your lips are bold, you may prefer simpler eyes, but this is a styling option rather than a rule.
